BOSTON, MASS. — Today, the Massachusetts eHealth Institute at MassTech (MeHI) launched a new Digital Health Challenge focused on bolstering support for Women+ communities. The event was sponsored by the chairs of the Joint Committee on Healthcare Financing, State Senator Cindy F. Friedman and State Representative John J. Lawn, Jr. The kickoff for the second session in MeHI’s Challenge series brought together leaders across the Digital Health ecosystem to examine and tackle health-related issues faced by Women+, which includes the needs of cisgender women and transgender or nonbinary individuals whose health needs relate to those of cisgender women. The second event in a series launched late last year by MeHI, the new Challenge includes the issues of maternal health, reproductive equity, mental health, and disease prevention.
On June 15th, Boston-based myBiometry was the recipient of MeHI's $10,000 cash award for innovation at Boston Scientific's Connected Patient Challenge VII, administered by M2D2. myBiometry is a platform designed to remotely monitor and manage patients with asthma using software and biomarker data generated from proprietary sensors.
CAMBRIDGE, MASS. – Today, seven companies pitched their innovative digital products to promote healthy aging to judges at the finale of the Healthy Aging Sandbox Challenge, a months-long competition run by MeHI, the Mass. eHealth Institute at MassTech. The finale, hosted at Cambridge-based venture firm The Engine, was the culmination of the first Sandbox Challenge, a virtual competition series that connects startups working to address key healthcare challenges with the Massachusetts digital health community, including world-class R&D centers across the state.

The Challenge was designed to find digital health solutions that can help older adults live as well and independently as possible by supporting their physical, mental, and social health.
Leuko is developing the world’s first portable, non-invasive white blood cell monitoring device to screen for severe neutropenia. In May 2020 MeHI awarded $60,000 to Leuko to work with the MIT Center for Clinical and Translational Research (CCTR) to test and validate their solution. The grant enabled Leuko to test their PointCheck™ device with untrained operators in a simulated home environment, helping to prepare them for a clinical trial and FDA certification. SOMERVILLE, MASS. – The Baker-Polito Administration joined healthcare and technology leaders to celebrate the legacy of the Massachusetts Digital Health Initiative, a statewide effort launched in January 2016, and to celebrate the finale of the 2nd Massachusetts Digital Health COVID-19 Recovery Challenge, a pitch competition supported by the Commonwealth and the U.S. Department of Commerce.
WESTBOROUGH – MeHI, the Mass. eHealth Institute at MassTech, has announced $165,950 in new awards from the Massachusetts Digital Health Sandbox Grant Program to support four Massachusetts startups in gaining access to cutting-edge R&D facilities across the state.
